Christy Miller Bell knows what it feels like when life goes dark. A year ago, everything she’d built over two decades unraveled simultaneously—new city, new jobs, empty nest, and an identity crisis that brought depression roaring back like an unwelcome houseguest. After twenty-plus years of pouring herself into youth ministry and homeschooling, she suddenly didn’t recognize the woman staring back from the mirror. The darkness felt suffocating. Everything stopped.

But God had other plans. In the stillness, He whispered a promise from Jeremiah 1:5,7-8 that changed everything: “I knew you before I formed you…I will be with you and will protect you.” As Christy dove into the book of Jeremiah, she discovered something unexpected—hope wasn’t just for ancient prophets or God’s chosen people. It was for her, too. And if God could use a reluctant prophet like Jeremiah, maybe He could use a broken woman from Alabama who’d battled depression and church hurt.

That’s when Christy realized she wasn’t writing for herself anymore. She was writing for every person who’s ever sat in the darkness wondering if God’s light could really reach them there. With an M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and more than two decades of ministry experience, Christy brings both theological depth and real-life honesty to every Bible study and devotional she creates. She’s not interested in surface-level faith or easy answers—she’s after the kind of unshakeable trust that survives when everything else crumbles.

Christy’s greatest enemy isn’t doubt or depression—it’s the voice in her head whispering that she’s not good enough, that her message doesn’t matter. But she’s learned that God’s faithfulness doesn’t depend on her feelings. His love never gave up on her, even when she gave up on herself. Now she writes to help others discover that same faithful God, to point weary hearts toward the Light that never dims, and to inspire people to live with confidence in their identity as God’s beloved.
